Happy New Year...

One of my dearest friends, or should I say, one that I hold dear to my heart and my home commented that I had not posted lately. So, Costa Rica is a lovely holiday destination, for all of you up north in the snow, think of how nice and warm it is here and say to yourself "I simply must go" http://youtube.com/watch?v=4klyIX4RIWA . This holiday season has been so very nice.

Costa Rica is the holiday destination, or actually, the anytime destination.

Thanks Giving!

It's been awhile, but I was on vacation.

My Thanksgiving was celebrated on Saturday. I have approached the holidays in Costa Rica, which have always tough for me, stoically. So armed with the resolved to impress my new German and Norwegian friends, I commenced planning my mom's good old fashion cooking strategy, "When in doubt make extra." Good plan right, ummm Lisa, you are in Costa Rica, American cooking supplies are in limited supply here in Tamarindo and when you do find them, freaking expensive. I found a turkey with the help of my landlord, Hans, potatoes, bread, cranberry stuff in a can, yep that was pretty much it, but my biggest dilemma was sage, salvia in Spanish, it was no where to be found. How the heck was I suppose to make my mom's secret dressing recipe without sage, well I wasn't. I improvised and used vegetarian sausage. I made it through the process of putting the turkey in the oven, making the fake sage dressing, getting all the misc. ready when, right before I was going to peel potatoes, I made the biggest mistake of the day, I checked my email. Myspace////blah blah////you have a message//// So I checked it. My Sarah had emailed me, it's been a while, anyway, she told me someone we both knew, someone who made me laugh, someone who was kind of a rebel back in the small town of Ottawa, Illinois, passed away yesterday. People die, I know, but I was just getting back in the holiday groove, not dusting off all those sad memories of the dear departed. My father passed away a few years ago right before T.day, not to mention the rest of my family. But, I digress, John Spicer was now dead. John Spicer was just one of many who contributed to great memories in my life back in Ottawa Illinois, from the great tooth hunt to the pony. I have enjoyed telling those great tales, they always made people laugh. I just wanted to get it on record that John Spicer contributed humor and fond memories to my life.

So anyway, I made my mashed potatoes, I entertained my friends with silly stories as they did me. We all ate to much, drank not enough.

Envy

I finally figured out the problem in my little pueblo, the reason people just can't enjoy themselves. It was so simple, envy. Everyone here lives in their version of the wild wild west, but, with a big but, and I am not talking about mine, they want the benefits without the burdens, they want to be ruthless, but protected...and frankly, that's just fine. We need more drama in my little pueblo...your thoughts on how to do that would be much appreciated!

Note to "everybody"> I am not optimizing, I am venting so you don't get my emails.

Just Emotional Drama..

My Horoscope: Your daily routine may be disturbed today by an unavoidable emotional drama. You are pulled one way then another and it's hard to tell what's really happening. Forget about attempting to use your common sense, for this is an irrational time and can be quite exciting if you don't get too stuck on being so serious.

I am far from being serious! I am the wicked one who tries desperately to help people, maybe cause it makes me feel better...I learned something though...helping people, maybe little people, doesn´t take alot. You know it kills me, literaly I get so amazingly sad, when they (meaning FoxNews) talks about those little babies in Africa. Kills me...I am done..anyway, I found out I can´t save the world, but I can help my little piece of it. So, Christmas is coming, and there is a whole bunch of Costa Rican little babies that need our help. Can you help? Today I tried to help.

Happy Oktoberfest from Tamarindo!

I wish I could say that I was extremely cocktailed while I am writing this, but alas, I ate a whole bunch of German Food at La Colina's annual Costa Rica Oktoberfest, now I know why they can drink so much...so I am tired and still I can't get the chicken dance out of my head, baaa da da da da da da. Ok, seriously, David Cooperfield made every shred of evidence vanish. Bill O'Reilly is so the 21st century's answer to Rush, I listened to him too. It's kinda scary that history repeats itself, the best thing that we, as individuals, can learn is not to repeat stupid mistakes, but whether micro or macro we follow patterns, we just can't help ourselves. Anyway, Happy Oktoberfest, (trust me, I know, we here in Costa Rica are about 2 weeks late, but that's ok, no hurry no worry in paradise.

Too Hot!

Sometime food is too hot, so I say just blog... You have asked where I live, that, besides being kinda scary, is something I will be happy to share with you. http://www.lacolina.com/

Ok, so today we have experienced a major assination attempt of Benazir Bhutto in Pakistan. Please someone give those angry people porn and drugs. I get mad, but come on.

Sex in the city, teenagers, ok...we all did it, but being the lesbian, then I had nothing to worry about, it simply mindboggling to me that this birthcontrol thing is an issue. O'Reilly needs to go harrass an intern!

Anyway, to the most pressing issue, I would like to do a reality tv show here in Costa Rica, any takers? Quinton I know you are reading.

Staph, Liars, Ellen and Ducks

Hi World...

I have four things to address:
  • Staph Epidemic
  • Liar, Liar, Liar
  • 3
  • "I love my duck"

Ok, Number 1

I watch Fox News religiously, because I think the girls are hot. But...from Fox and Friends to Cavuto, they have been acting as if the US world is suffering from some sort of staph epidemic. Let me tell you, a half a decade ago, they told us we were taking to many antibiotics, so anyway...

Number 2

You are such an amazing liar.

Number 3...I remembered

Ellen, you are amazing!

Number 4

I met a guy who is love with his long lost duck...trust me, it was scary at times, but...nope still scary. It reminded me of driving late one night from Chicago to Virginia, listening to late night A.M. radio, I think the concept was micro-penis.

Costa Rica, ah the rainy season, some say they want to leave, some complain about the roads, but damn, it amazingly green and because there is nothing to do, but drink beer, well, there is always "duck love."

Wine Name Nap-ing

I hate the thought of a blog...I much prefer my grilled cheese. Anyway, forced to do this (cause others say I will like it, and it's better than Paxil) here I am. I am in Costa Rica, the very last destination for the socially inept (but willing to accept it otherwise they would be in Green Land) SO I am here, yep...

Ahem...the Euorpean Union is having drama over "name naping" for their best wine (blaming it on China) and they are trying to protect the NAPA Calinfornia wines...how funny, if you were here with me in Costa Rica, you would realize that US citizens can't do anything right, let alone make wine. Oh darn it, I promised myself I would not be negative...

Ok, my horoscope said today, smile and keep on dancing, thanks tarot.com. That was my thought of the day. I made the oddest couple dance...
